Bluetooth & Movie Maker & Resilience…Oh MY!

How Cool is Bluetooth?!?!

It is probably very common knowledge that Bluetooth is a pretty cool technology. But it became valuable and experiential knowledge to me as I loaded the Smart Notebook applications and the Bluetooth application to several machines in one of my labs. When I connected each Airliner to it’s own computer via Bluetooth, they talked only to their own computers and did not cross over or interfere with the machines next to them.

This is great for me because when we do our hands-on Taking Off With Airliners training this summer, each of the participants will have their Airliner that communicates with their computer to work with. So, stay tuned for a report of how that workshop goes….

Resilience Saves the Project

Well, we got a little lost in the forest with our 4th grade Texas History Movie Maker projects. It seems that the teacher and I were on different paths (easy to do when planning and communication are interrupted by an itenerant service schedule).  We had worked together with the class a few weeks ago, at which time I mostly did the Movie Maker introduction to both the students and the teacher. Then, bravely, she worked on the project with them without me in a few sesssions. But, when we both worked together in the lab the other day, it became apparent the direction we were going with the project was going to be too wordy and take to long.

Being the expert teacher she is, right there, on the spot, she did some quick mental calculations of time, learning objectives, available resources and student capabilities, and suggested a different path for the Movie Maker project.

  1. I’ll be interested to hear how the airliner workshops went! Wish I could have attended–several of our teachers are!
